A Canada Day Recipe
I love Canada Day because that’s the day my humans invite all our neighbours over for a BBQ! It’s been a tradition since they moved here to Ranchers’ Rise. My humans always say they LOVE the big deck in our huge backyard, because they can invite more people to the BBQ every year. I really like the yard too because we play fetch back there a lot and it’s so big that I can run and run and run. It’s always a great day when we do that!
I also love our Canada Day BBQ because there are so many humans to play with, and so much food to eat! I always get a nice juicy steak bone too. So it’s a perfectly delicious tradition in my barks….I mean books!
Our neighbours say they love the Canada Day barbeque because of the all fun and the very special BBQ sauce my humans make. I want to share it with you. Maybe you can start your own Canada Day tradition with this sauce here in Ranchers’ Rise too!
We’re Canadian, so you know the sauce just HAS to have maple syrup in it!
Roasted Pepper and Maple Barbeque Sauce
Yeild: Approximately 3/4 cup
PREP TIME: 5 minutes
TOTAL COOKING TIME: 15 minutes
- 1 cup coarsely chopped drained bottled roasted red peppers (6 ounces)
- 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon chopped canned chipotle chiles in adobo plus 1 teaspoon adobo sauce (from can), or 1/2 teaspoon cayenne
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
I hope you love the sauce as much as my humans do!
You should come and visit me at Ranchers’ Rise. Maybe we can become neighbours and you can come to the Canada Day BBQ next year! Here’s a map so you can find me!
Love,
Mickey
