Okotoks is truly a town for community living. This vibrant area is full of residents who care about their neighbors, which gives us so much to celebrate, and there’s no better time to celebrate than the holiday season!
Families throughout Ranchers’ Rise will be inviting friends and family into their homes, but many of our residents love to get out during the holidays to experience everything that the Okotoks has to offer all season long.
A Heritage Christmas at the Okotoks Museum
Christmas is one of our most time-honored and treasured traditions, but the Christmas of today looks nothing like the Christmases of years past.
Discover the roots and traditions of a bygone era at the Okotoks Museum. A Heritage Christmas features the traditions of a turn-of-the-century prairie holiday celebration that is sure to fascinate old and young alike. Learn about the tradition of hanging stockings and trimming the tree, and discover everything that went into cooking the Christmas feast over 100 years ago. This special exhibit will be on display until Friday, December 23.
The Spirit of Christmas at the Okotoks Art Gallery
Finding unique gifts that your friends and family will love can be a huge challenge, but not if you stop by the Okotoks Art Gallery!
Open until 5:00pm on Friday, December 23, the Spirit of Christmas features local artisans who are showcasing one-of-a-kind holiday ornaments, jewelry, and cards. The walls will be covered with original local artwork that is priced at less than $200.
If you do your shopping before Monday, December 18, make sure you stop by the Tree of Warmth. Bring along new slippers, scarves, gloves, and toques and place them on the tree. All of the items will be donated to local and regional charities just in time for Christmas.
Goodger Pink: Hansel & Gretel, A Holiday Panto
Enjoy a little holiday entertainment that the kids are sure to love by watching this family-friendly production of a Hansel and Gretel story. Tickets start at just $9 and can be purchased for performances that start Friday, December 9. The show is being performed at the Rotary Performing Arts Centre.
Take pictures with Santa
Of course, you can take pictures with Santa at the Okotoks Recreation Centre! If you’ve never had your child’s photo taken with Santa in Okotoks before, you don’t know what you’ve been missing!
Avoid the lines at the mall by pre-booking with the Sheep River Health Trust. You’ll receive a USB drive with up to 30 photos, and you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that your payment will be used to support a local charity that invests in health and wellness initiatives in the Foothills region.
