What does it take to live in a great community? You know you’re living in a well-rounded community when members express care for the welfare of the whole town- Okotoks falls into this realm. Through green initiatives like carpooling or recycling programs, through activities like fundraising programs for the youth or planning sessions like community visioning Okotoks cares about its residents.
What is Community Visioning?
Community Visioning is a process in which the residents of Okotoks have the opportunity to get together and discuss what future they want for their community. This discussion will cover not only their goals as a community, but also the steps they need to take to achieve those goals. With all these clearly stated in a vision, it becomes easier for the community to stay on track.
Homeowners, including Ranchers’ Rise residents are highly encouraged to participate in community visioning workshops as this gives them a chance to speak up about how they see their town in a couple of years’ time. At the same time, this is an opportunity for citizens to work together towards maintaining and improving the area they want to live in.
Community Visioning in Okotoks
Okotoks is known as a community-centered town wherein residents are actively participating in community activities and programs. This week, the members of the Okotoks community are all invited to join the Okotoks Community Visioning. There will be multiple locations:
Kiosk 1 will be located at:
- The Recreation Centre (99 Okotoks Drive) all week.
Kiosk 2 will be located at:
- The Okotoks Health & Wellness Centre (1 Cimarron Common) on Monday & Tuesday
- Holy Trinity Academy on Wednesday & Thursday
- Pason Centennial Arena from Friday through to Sunday (3-204 Community Way)
The town is still in the process of development with more and more homes for sale in Okotoks built by renowned Calgary home builders being advertised to individuals and families alike that are seeking a well-rounded place to call home. This is exactly why community members should participate—so they’d know what’s next for their area and express their thoughts on things they want and don’t want for the town.
Should there be more developments? What facilities does the community need? Are there any efforts towards sustainability? These are just some of the questions that can be discussed during the community visioning workshop.
This week will focus on getting community members’ input on how they envision the Town of Okotoks in the future. Follow up workshops in October and November will focus on setting clear objectives and creating a community vision.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity! Shape your community’s future by joining the Okotoks Community Visioning Workshop.
