Emergency situations cannot be avoided—especially if it’s brought about by Mother Nature. The only thing we can do to protect ourselves during these times is by being prepared and informed. This is why it is extremely important to have a system in place that will notify people about emergencies so that everyone can take the necessary steps to protect themselves.
We can rely on news broadcasts, but what if you aren’t watching the television or listening to the radio when an emergency is broadcasted? As part of Okotoks’ efforts for effective and quick notification in case of emergencies, the town has launched the Emergency Notification System wherein residents can subscribe to receive alerts in case of emergencies within town.
These critical emergency alerts will be sent via email, phone, and text message using the brand new Safe Communities Alert Network system. The Emergency Notification System is meant to keep residents of Okotoks informed before, during, and after local emergencies, such as flooding, tornadoes, major fires, and hazardous spills among many others.
As a community that promotes a safe environment for its residents, Ranchers’ Rise encourages all its homeowners to subscribe to the Emergency Notification System of Okotoks through this link. Being informed about emergency situations in town will benefit residents as this will help them prepare and/or evacuate immediately, if needed.
